Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of other positions. Do not be conceited.
Romans 12:16

Our purpose is to love. Why do we feel the need to judge others or condemn people?

I'm not perfect, never will be. Of course I am guilty of this too. I'm just wondering how others are feeling about it as well.

I know I give christians a really hard time on here, but quite honestly, if the majority behaved more like you I think the world would be much better off. No one is perfect; whether you're christian or muslim or atheist, life is difficult and painful. No one is any better or worse b/c of what they believe. No ones life is easier b/c they have faith or lack faith. I guess it comes back to the fact that human beings are more alike than we tend to believe, despite all these superficial differences. Now back to my regularly scheduled hatred...

You are taught that only the righteous go to heaven. Anyone of the world will perish. Therefore Christians feel and act like they are better than everyone else. Rather than helping people, you condemn those who do not follow the rules of god.

Have you ever heard of "proof testing?" That's when you use one verse of Scripture to prove a point without regard for other Scriptures. Preachers do it all the time. Also the version you're using is not accurately translating Rom. 12:16. Jesus said, "Judge righteous judgement." What do you think that means?

Exactly, we should not judge or condemn, there is a fine line between sharing the truth and then crossing over to being judgmental and self righteous. One must know when to stop at that line. We should not be silent- but continue to share the truth of God in love...there is a way to do this! Just as Jesus did it- using God's law to make people conscious of sin...then explaining why Jesus died on the cross...if one does not want to hear it- you should not shove it at him- but simply shake the dust from your feet and move on- the most you can do then is pray for them. But yes we should be kind to everyone!! I have seen so many rude remarks and self righteous comments on here- it has really disgusted me--it gives christianity a bad name- when we who are seeking to please God know that He is merciful and loving! And we also know He is Just. God is the one to judge, and we are the ones to share His truth in love.

It is kind of judgmental to call all of Christians judgmental. But in a way, it is similar to what Jesus did. When he was here on earth, the "negative" teaching he had was towards the "religious" folk. To everyone else he was a friend and a servant.

That is the real key. Worry about yourself. Love others as God has loved you, and love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. That is how others will see Christ, and want to know more about Him.

Jesus didn't have a political action committee, or the equivalent thereof in his era.

God didn't call Christians to be Moral Compasses. He called us to point others to Him.

Sure, if someone asks you: "Is this wrong?", give them your opinion. But no one is going to care what you say if they aren't a Christian and they ain't asking.

We Christians, like people of any other religion know we're right. Do we really know we're right? No, but we believe what we believe very strongly. According to Christiany, the consequences of not being a Christian is an eternity of sufferring. I don't think I hate anyone that much, so I want to save everyone, and the easiest way to get someone to do what you want is to scare them. That's why God made hell. He wants to "scare" us into worshipping him and being Christians. We do the same thing. We want to "scare" non-Christians into Christianity by telling them they will go to hell if they do not become Christian. It's only because we love them, and deep down, it's coming from the heart. We love them, and don't want non-Christians to suffer, especially nice non-Christians.

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment"; and "You have rightly judged."; and "Yes, and why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right?"; and "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves". (Jesus' Words in John 7:24; Luke 7:43, 12:57 and Matt. 23:15)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary

There is an extremely serious error that is being believed by the vast majority of people caught up in christian religion. This error is literally making those folks unwilling and unable to discern truth. And what is this error? It is believing that all "judgment" is wrong. If this is true, then what is to be made of Jesus' Words above? In the verses above, Jesus clearly commands people to judge, commends people for judging, and judges himself.

The key point to understand is that not all judgment is wrong, just various types of judgment. The types of judgment that are wrong according to Jesus are condemnation, as well as hypocritical and self-righteous judgment. On the other hand, right judgment is commended by Jesus as we see above. Right judgment includes the judging of truth versus falsehood. The sincere, serious and sober judgment of our own sins, as well as the gentle, and compassionate judgment and correction of other's beliefs or sins.

The people you speak of just use the title Christian. True Christians do live in harmony.

I agree. There are some who just do as you stated and it is totally wrong. Then there are also some who do it in a battle of defending God, which we should always speak up and spread the truth and defend the name of God, but, in a way that is done with love and patience and tactfulness. We will bring no one to Christ Jesus by being rude and mean.

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 7
Don't judge others.
Those who judge others are not Christians. When will the churches start saying that those who do the opposite of what Jesus said to do are NOT Christians???
