Two of my friends have cats that are really fat. They are young too about 2 years old. I am trying to find out the type of breed they are to get their genetics and health information. They have short soft hair like rabbit fur. Both are white and brown. Large round heads. Please tell me which breed or how I can find out

Cats get fat from eating too much as a rule b ut on the odd occasion it can be their metabolic rate which needs to be checked. l am sure your cat is stealing food from somewhere as well as getting a huge amount from you and he does NOT need huge meals as a fat cat only shortens their life span by years. Have a good look at what you are feeding your cat it only needs one feed per day which should be some good nutritional cat food. Make sure your cat has no access to any dry food at will and you never leave food down for cats to eat at their pleasure this is a recipe for disaster. Check next door neighbours garages as many people leave bags of dry food in sheds and garages and of course the cat will find this food and gorge themselves. They are competent thieves l can assure you and it may be your cat is also a good mouser so is supplementing the diet with extra wild vermin. Put the cat on a strict diet and if you do not know how ring your vet for advice the vet nurses or the Vet will assist you as to what to feed your cat and how much.If your cat is having its shots yearly the vet would h ave picked up on this huge weight issue so are you inoculating at all?Have you wormed your cat ever?If not start now..

there is no such thing as a naturally fat cat!!!
a calorie controlled diet is required, exercise and regular weight checks.
British short hairs do seem to have a big framed but are not fat. the colour you said doesn't really match up. if your friend bought a pedigree cat or one of a certain type you are usually aware its prob just a moggie (domestic short hair).
fat cats are at risk of joint/bone probs, diabetes, urinary problems etc.

I would go and look in cat books cause this is not good for their heart if there are very fat, or maybe take them to your vet and see what they say as they do need yearly checks.
Look online for cat breeds..

There is NOT a fat breed..get them on a diet..the fat collects around their heart and will shorten their life..not fair to them or your friend..
