recently i've started to feel so alone. i don't know why though as i have a loving family and great friends. i know i'm like, not alone but i feel it and i don't feel happy at all. if you met me you would think i am the happiest person on the planet but i dont feel that way inside and i've got to the stage where i start crying in my lessons and i cant concentrate on anything. i haven't spoken to anyone about it because it feels like i'm being so selfish and attention seeking to be convinced i'm alone when i'm surrounded by my friends and family.
what is this? is there anyone i can speak to about how i feel?

You have the classic signs of clinical depression. Sometimes there doesn't need to be a "reason"....having loving family and friends does NOT mean that you have no right to feel sad all the time. Sometimes depression is the result of chemical imbalances in the brain and these imbalances can be corrected by antidepressant medication. Other times, talking to a qualified therapist, physician, school counselor, pastor, or nurse may be all you need to vent your feelings and get feedback; any of these options should be able to steer you in the right direction for more help. Remember, everyone who experiences what you are experiencing feels lonely, sad, and tearful....none of these symptoms makes you a selfish person!! You are to be congratulated for admitting there is something wrong that needs addressing~~~many folks choose to stay miserable, believing there is no help. GOOD NEWS....there is TONS of help available!!! Go get it!

One more thing......a local Mental Health Center might be a good place to start....Good luck!!

If you feel alone with all those good people around, then maybe there is a part of the real 'you' that NEEDS to BE alone and it is expressing that persistently.

This could be healthy. Take a few opportunities to spend some time without the clutter of the clan directing you. See if you can see what You think about the world absent the constant yakking going on.

The question is: "Am I me, or am I one of us?". Everybody asks this sooner or later. Take Control.

If the situation gets worse, then consider asking an MD or school nurse to monitor your progress.

You're descibing depression - it can be brought on by a number of things. Tell you parents and ask them to take you to a doctor.

It will be up to you and your parents to decide if you want to pursue medication, therapy or both.

You're not being selfish and alot of us go through it at some point. It's good you recognize it could be an issue, though.

Good luck!

You didnt say your age...but, i have a feeling maybe your hormones might be kicking in..

I feel the same way you do at times, and have felt this way for most of my life...but, I renew my thinking...the bible says (that we are to renew our minds daily)...

you also have to let your parents know how you feel, so perhaps they can give you the attention you want or help you see things in a different manner...

best wishes

Certainly. There are school counclers and therapist that you can call to talk to about this. It is perfectly normal to feel this way about life. Sometimes it's just a part of growing up, and others, because you need to get out more and expierence more things in life.
