Because it takes time to have relationships and the sexual abstinence people have more time to dedicate to academic and professional achievement.

Not all highly academic and professional people abstain from sex. There isn't a direct correlation except maybe in high school. From my experience, smart kids are usually socially ostracized mostly b/c they are socially confined to a group of kids like themselves. Restricting yourself to a group of kids that have limited exposure to "normal" interactions can leave you socially isolated which includes sexual relationships. There is also the case of IQ. The higher ones IQ is (or the lower it is) then the more socially isolated one is. Intelligent people are usually (not always) socially underdeveloped. This does not have to be the case though. If you push yourself to go outside of your comfort zone and to make friends with people unlike yourself you will learn to become more socially acceptable. I survived high school and fortunately I learned to fit in by befriending people that I was nothing like. I learned to be less "nerdy" so to speak. I have learned a great deal from those friends and they have learned that I could be a friend too. In high school I jumped from the "nerd herd" to the "freaks" and found that I could still be myself and smart. Today I have grown to understand that high school is adolescent hell and is really nothing that it is cracked up to be. But I learned to be more socially acceptable. I hope this helps you.

Because the smarter you are, the more you realise that hopping into bed with someone is not something to be taken lightly. It seems that those lower down the brainy scale think that having sex is the automatic end to an evening out...even the first evening out. It isn't and it shouldn't be.
Those with brains understand that sex really isn't everything, there's a lot more to life than that, and sex, although it may earn you money, does not earn you the accolade of your peers.

I don't know where this came from. I remember the final Kinsey study showing a positive correlation between a woman's education and her rate of orgasm. The most educated women had a much higher chance of coming than the women who only had a high-school diploma — or less.

I really don't think there is....it isn't because of abstinence, it is becuase of the determination of the person. Mostly every now and then sex would really relive stress and allow the person to function more clearly

the causality still needs to be corroborated. Its a non falsifiable statement. A counter factual would be to abstain from sex and see your country rocket to stardom.
