I've heard the Quran challenges its readers to attempt to write like it....? What does this mean?

Yes, you're right. :) Well the Qur'aan is believed to be a miracle, where no other book written is quite like it. All other authors are man, but the author of the Qur'an is the Creator of man. :)

The Holy Qur'aan (when read in Arabic) is so poetic and deep and simple at the same time, that it's impossible to imitate even a chapter or a line similar to it. People have tried, and failed and have given up trying, too. It is also the only book that is memorized by millions worldwide (in it's entirety.)

So with all of these (and many more quailities) it truly is a challenge to produce something of it's like. The point made is that though we have intelligence and are given some power, we as human beings shouldn't forget the Greatest Being, the One who Created us, will always be the Most Knowledgable and Most Powerful. :) Get it? :) I hope that helped!

See the Quran is supposed to be the very words of god himself. Beautifull as they are written no human will ever be able to interpret such melodic beauty which was spoken by god.

But meh lets hear all the other haters theory.

The TRUE challenge of the Qu'ran is to try to make any sense of it. Since it is the ramblings of a drunken, pedophile rug sales man, you won't be able to.
