Not at all... perhaps if they were harsher, the little brats would turn out better and the world would be a better place.

No, I do not think parents are to harsh on their children. In the world today, children need a lot of help to live and enjoy their lives. It is a difficult world out there and a lot of difficult people to deal with. I truly believe parents need to be tough on their children and teach them about a healthy good life and how not to be someone you are not.

It all depends on your definition of 'hardness'. If by hardness you are referring to physical violence, then yes. If you are referring to 'hardness' as assertiveness, then no. Children need a firm but loving hand to guide them not a tyrannical dictator! Parents have to find the happy medium that makes the kids become responsible for their own actions. Remember that people, including kids, have inadequate conduct for four basic reasons; the want or need attention, they are struggling for power, they are avenging wrong they feel has been committed against them, or they have just given up out of frustration and despair. Getting to the bottom of the cause is usually the best way of finding the solution to the bad behavior.

some things yea and others no.. It just depends on the situation.. I am a single mother of a 3 year old.. Its like sometimes when he is in trouble i feel like i shouldnt have spanked him or put him in the corner.. but honestly everyone has thier own way of raising thier childeren. I just want mine to understand and be tough when he grows up.. The way i was raised was worse than what im doing..

Honestly, I don't think parents are hard ENOUGH on their children. Today's television media, movies, music, and video games have more of a hold on our youth and I think it requires parents to pull in the reins a little tighter on their kids. When I grew up, spanking wasn't even talked about as a bad option. Now, they try to come up with better alternatives. I say if it worked back then, it will work now.

I think parents need to spank there kids more an dstop worrying about the police. Kids would be a lot more behaved if parents did there jobs. Spanking dont mean you dont love your kids and there is real big difference between spanking and beating. I spank my kids as a last resort and it never more than 2-3 swats with my hand never with pants down, I dont beat with belts or things like that.

No, I'm afraid not. I suppose there are a few parents out there who still bother to discipline their children, but I think if you look around anywhere you go today you will see undisciplined, unruly children and teens who need some good old fashioned discipline!

Definitely not. Not the ones I know....Especially my own children. Their children rule, and get e/thing and anthing they want. There's absolutely no appreciation. Nor do they have the faintest idea of how to deal with anything. That makes for an unlikeable person. Which is so sad, especially when it's your grandchild.

Not really. Kids these days don't really have any discipline. My parents are harsh on me when I'm bad, so guess what, I'm not bad anymore. Easy peasy. Makes it easier for everyone!

You aren't very specific w/ your question. Parents who are always hitting, yelling, etc. are being way too hard. The rest of the parents who give in to their child's every whim are only creating selfish monsters who will grow into big nasty, greedy adults.
