call him... me and my girlfriend live 5000 miles away from each other... it's more often then not, me calling her...
it gets me sad some times because it makes me feel like she'd be fine if i just stopped calling she'd still just keep going and everything would stay the same for her...
so give him a call... maybe send him flowers...
