Good Morning, afternoon, evening (whichever fits)
ABC Corporation, how may I help you?
Some companies have their own spiel they like to have said, some omit the good morning part and just answer "ABC Corporation how may I help you?" Some say "How may I assist you" or even "How may I direct your call" If you have a chance you should either listen to someone else answer or ask someone in the office to make sure you are answering properly. I work as a 911 Dispatcher.. if it is a regular line we answer "Harvard Police" If it's 911 of course it's "911 what is your emergency." But I have worked many years in the telecommunications field and know every employer has a way they want their phone answered.
Just a note people always say if you smile when you are answering the phone it is impossible to sound snippy, even if you are in a horrible mood, you can't let that be conveyed to the caller. Always be pleasant and courteous.

When I answer the phone at work I do it in the follow way:
'Good (fill in time of day: morning, afternoon, or evening), (fill in place of employment), this is (fill in your name) speaking'
Over the years I have discovered that if you make the greeting any longer with fluff (like thank you for calling..., etc.) people tend to be impatient and will start talking while you're talking. And if you put too little information, like you don't mention your name, people become irritated and demand to know who's speaking, etc.

First of all, ask your boss/supervisor if the company has a preference. If not, I always use "Good morning/afternoon. XYZ Company." I try not to say too much because most callers don't want to hear a long diatribe when the phone is answered. Always be pleasant, no matter what. A receptionist's tone of voice makes the first impression of a company. Good luck

Pretty much what others said in answers. I was a switchboard operator for 20 years off and on. I answered." Good morning (time of day), thank you for calling,(business name), how may i direct your call?" Ask your HR manager at the business you are currently working.

Depending on what type of company it is! I have my receptionist answer the phone as follows:
Good Morning(Afternoon). Liberty Tax Service, this is Chrissy, how can I help you?
In my opinion, I want my receptionist to always state their name, the company and ask the caller how we can assist them! It's a brief introduction, but clear and concise!

Politeness and efficency. Short and to the point, while also sounding professonal. Many places will tell you exactly how they want you to answer their phone. If not then consider saying something like:
Hello, ABC company, how can I direct your call?
or
Hello, ABC company, how may I help you?
