I've had nothing but problems with the factory installed DVD player. I'm now on my 3rd one and am getting sick of taking my car to the dealer. The first 2 times I was getting an "eject error" and DVDs would not play. Yes they were brand new DVDs and yes I tried more than 1. Now, if there is the minutest little finger print or sratch on the DVD, it skips. I can play the same DVD in any other player.

Although the system is a BOSE, I understand that the DVD player is in fact a generic manufactured for Nissan by Panasonic. My questions are these:

Is anyone else having this problem?
Is there a suitable "better quality" replacement for the DVD player?
Nissan will only replace it with the same player. Is there some way to get them to pay for a better one?

Thanks and best answer will be picked in 3 days...promise.

Perhaps you need to do a two pronged approach on the problem. If indeed the DVD player is a Panasonic, try http://www.hometheaterforum.com/bbs/archive/23342.html#SERVICECENTERS to get the Panasonic repair center closest to you and ask some questions of them. I'm sure if it is a common problem they would have some suggestions as to solving it. Then, armed with that information you can go back to Nissan and suggest a fix. If worse comes to worse you may have to contact the main offices, but don't give up until it's fixed.

Hey, I'm not for sure exactly how to fix your problem for free but Sony has always had really good dvd players. I'm sure that your dealership is going to be cheap and not pay the difference too. Sorry I'm not much help but I'm really just responding because I seriously think you're my dream girl. I'm a pilot and love to scubadive, the beach...basically everything you listed. You're probally thinking that I'm an idiot but I just thought I'd let you know that you've been admired.

For my MP3 Player I used a Audiovox FM Modulator It works by plugging in to your stereo along with the antenna, and when you turn it on it blocks the signal from your antenna and feeds the signal from an MP3 player / DVD player / other audio equipment directly into your stereo system. It is compatible with any vehicle. I also bought a Y Cable to convert the stereo L/R two a normal stereo wire from Radio Shack. It works really well for me and I would say the sound is CD quality, I like it much better then the FM TRANSMITTER I used before. I bought mine from Circuit City for $49.99, and installed it myself. Hope this helps.
