IF anything in this world is possible then doesn't that also mean that it is possible that there is no such thing as ghosts? IF anything is possible then the things we know as constants of nature are not constant at all. IF anything is possible then I in some sort of way can really survive falling through an active volcano at 186,00 miles per second. And the butterfly just represented something to your dad at a very emotional time in his life. If you use irrational emotional thought then you can rationalize anything happening at any moment into being your grandfather.

I don't believe the dead possess things, but I am sure that discarnate spirits can communicate with the living if the person is receptive. Many people (including me) believe that a spirit sometimes will "send" a message of comfort in the form of a butterfly, a rainbow, a songbird, a shooting star, etc. to the bereaved.

I think that, depending on the circumstances, you can believe whatever you want. If you need a logical answer, I think that this is not possible. But I also think right after a person passes away, there is a sort of memory of them still existing for a while. As if they're just watching us for a little bit longer. That's just what I believe.

No...what exactly is a spirit, a soul? I have asked this question many times to many people and have yet to get a reasonable, thought provoking, plausible answer. The usual answer is...'it is your life force' or 'it is the energy of your being'. Either of which means what? Such a thing as a soul or a spirit has yet to even been proved to actually exist. I tend to feel it is just more of the christian mythology at work.

Who really knows what goes on after a spirit departs from the body. But i have heard tales whereby spirits infested a tree once and a face appeared on the base of the tree.

Yes it is possible, it's nothing to be scared of, though, it just means that the person is still with you. If you pay attention, you can see signs of people who have passed away but they are still with you
