A couple weeks ago I tried using my camera and everytime I turned it on, it would automatically turn off. My first thought was that the battery was dead. I charged it overnight and when I tried to turn it on, it turned off automatically again. I purchased the correct batteries from the internet and fully charged the battery in the camera when I received them. I just tried to turn it on, and it's still doing the same thing; turning off automatically. And now it's also not opening the lens fully like it should. I can send it back in for repair without a problem, but I'm having a baby in about 6 weeks and can't be without the camera. Any ideas on what I can do without having to send it in? Thanks so much in advance!

I would send it back for repair (hope it's under warranty).

Hopefully, you will be able to borrow a camera, if yours is in the repair centre. Or if you are desperate you could always buy a disposable film/digital camera.

Good luck & congratulations!

Have your camera been dropped? It can be a mechanical problem, like the lens mechanism getting stuck, etc. You should send you camera in if it is still under warranty. Borrow a camera from a friend in the mean time.

1. is it really shutting off or is it just the back screen shutting down(battery saver mode)
2. is the battery really charging(check the power with a multi meter)
3 is the camera damaged(zoom lens banged and has jumped or jolted the gears in the lens)
if the lens has been jolted there gonna blame you and charge you to fix it. if its the motor in the lens is shot they will fix it.
