The only way to stop it is to buy the nail varnish from the chemist...i am unsure as to what it is called but sure u will get advice from staff there. The nail varish is clear so wont be noticed, and when ur son puts his fingers in mouth to bite nails, he will get a nasty taste and think twice before doing so again. If u use the varnish for a few weeks i am sure he will learn to stop it. Best of luck, to both u and ur son. Hope it goes well.

When I was little, there was a product called Thumb. It went on like nail polish and it left the nastiest taste in my mouth. It was bitter and it burned like eating peppers. It only took a few weeks of using that stuff before I stopped biting my nails forever. I think they still sell Thumb, but if not, I'm sure there's a similar product out there.

They do make stuff (I think Sally Hansen has a product) that you put on just like nail polish only it's clear and you can't even see it that tastes bitter. I would definitely talk to your pediatrician before using ANYTHING to make sure it's safe. Obviously, it's safe for adults, but since your son is only 2, better to check first. It worked for me and I was a nail biter since I can remember. I now have long nails and have since I used this product. I only used it for a few weeks (since we tend to forget when we're doing something else). Good luck!

Try to keep him busy with tactile things so his hands aren't idle. I bought nail biting polish from the store for my daughter and it didn't do any good. I don't recommend it. He'll get over it.

If he can go the whole day without biting any of them, he gets a sweet/treat. Every day.

My dad bribed me when i was little. He told me he would get me a gameboy if i stopped, and it worked! ive also heard of putting something like vinegar on the fingers so that they'll stop because of the taste.
