It is by far the most fun thing in the whole world. Sell you granny if you have to, but trust me its not a purchase you will regret!
Not only is it fun for her, it can be fun for both parties. Plus it really is like a magic O button, use it for a few mins and it will totally take the pressure off for the rest of your session together which means you are far more likely to just play and do stuff that feels good without it necessarily having to produce that final end result.

Ask him what he fancies, that'll spice things up straight away, but make it clear that you're happy with his performance but want to make it more fun for you both or he'll get a bruised ego(and then you'll get none).
Shoes, boots, baby oil and food are all good, cheap, not too 'in your face' ways to experiment.
