Hey Christopher,

I find 294 BEVAN entries in the LDS Family Search site, from all over the world - that means your name is global for one. It seems that the oldest of these (that I found), come from Wales:
Llangyfelach, Glamorganshire, Wales

BEVAN
Gender: Masculine

Usage: Welsh

From a Welsh surname which was derived from ap Evan meaning "son of EVAN".

you already have an answer for Christopher, above.

Hello Christopher Bevan. I was at school with a Rosemary Bevan. I dont think i have heard that surname since, so it is quite unusual.

You do hide your light under a bush, don`t you ? I`ve just googled you and it appears that :-
You write books on insolvency.
You are into photography and public investment.
You are ranked 295th in squash.
You do cross-country running.
You play the harpsichord.
You have played(music)with Yehudi Menuen.

I got bored after this, but aren`t you a clever `Bevan boy`?

Christopher means literally "the carrier of Christ" (Christo phoros) because of the legend of St Christopher. I'm sure you're familiar with this, but here's the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Christopher
Bevan is a Welsh name, derived originally from "ap Evan (or ap Ifan)", meaning the son of Evan. Originally the Welsh were all known by their father's forenames in this way, but the English conquerors insisted on their having approved surnames, so a remote ancestor of yours, who gave his name as perhaps Iolo ap Ifan, would have been told that in future he would have been known as "Iolo Bevan".

Evan/Ifan is still a popular first name in Wales and the nickname is "Ianto".
