to keep your bible reading interesting, you must be excited to what the Lord will tell you. Think that you will be meeting Christ. for praising i like the Psalm and in new testament the book of Mark. but all are interesting and full of promises.....as we pray we are the one talking and asking but in reading the bible...the lord is the one who will talk to you and you just listen.....

May you hear the promises and God Bless!

First of all get a modern translation like the NLT (2004). When you read the new Testament, just read only one gospel-the the rest of the NT. The next time switch out to another gospel. When you read the Old Testament, read the historical line-leave out the law (Lev. & Duet.), Psalms, Prov. , Songs. 1&2 Chron. Just try to get the whole story. You can always go back ard read any book. The main idea is to just get a general understanding of what the Bible says. Go through the whole Bible like this, once you complete it-then start over, maybe with a different translation.
Now, pick one book to study at a different time of the day, but don't stop your regular daily reading. But pick one book and read about that book in a commentary. The "Bible Knowledge Commentary" is a very good consevative set that only cost about $40. There are many more, some more technical and others more devotional. The purpose of the commentary is to help you with passages you can not understand and with some information about who wrote the book and why. When you study all the details in a specific book, you may get bogged down a little-but take your time and make sure you understand what God meant for you to know from this book-it will be rewarding. May you be blessed.

I like the Corinthians But mainly ai try follow what as a group in church we are studying because after listening to our pastor I find new food in the same words. I also look things up to try and help others which gives a fresh reminder of those words. I also like to occassinally read Revelation it is full of good news of Christ's return and the events that will lead up to it.
I have missed being here in the last month as I had to take care of my momwhich I did gladly she ahd a test go bad and I had to drive her to the doctor and take her shopping and do almost everything for her. It is good to be back at least part time. Part time due to my childrens schooling I do not have as much free time as I had before but that id okay too all in the day of mom. May you all have a blessed day aand may god smile on you all. L:ove in the Lord Jesus Christ
I also use the NIV as it has great foot notes some factsother possibilities, but very easy to read and understand.

I have studied people. I have studied tongues. I pick things out and do searched on it. I have studied the goat which was known as the escape goat. I have studied the tabernacle. I use many commentaries, but I always make sure they line up with the word of God. You cannot always trust what you read in a commentary. I like J. Vernon McGee, I like Warren Werisbe. I use a Concordance. And I always use my KJV Bible. I use many other commentaries but those two are the main ones I use.

By reading the really fun verses frequently!!

Exodus 11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.

11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

Sometimes I just open the Bible randomly and begin to read. usually something will jump out at me. Sometimes I will look up things in the Concordance to point me in a direction. I try not to use to many resources because I feel it takes away from what the Bible stands for. Resources usually tend to lead me astray.

I recently read Ruth and I thought that book was interesting. I like to learn about the different people in the Bible and how their lives are similar to ours and how God used them to teach us something. I seem to learn better when I can associate a person with an event.

I have a practical commentary On The Holy Scripture.. One interesting point was. The early people were very smart, they could dig a well 200 feet deep. Invent and build musical instruments.. I just never guessed they were educated.. God didn't make stupid people back then..lol

The Spirit-filled Bible has many 'sidebars' that point to other references or explain the original language. You have to concentrate sometimes to read 'just the bible' . Also, Ken and Gloria Copeland have a devotional entitled PURSUIT OF HIS PRESENCE which is the best I have found in 30 years. It will get you studying....
