you've had a few rubbish answers so far.. the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke are called the synoptic gospels. As a unity of four, they are simply refered to as 'the Gospels' and their authors as Evangelists.

Matthew Mark and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels. There are several theories out there about how these books were written. One being that Matthew and Mark were written using Mark as a source along with Q gospel an unknown gospel. Along with other source forinstance many believe that Mary influenced the writings in Luke because it is the only placed that we learn about Christ's childhood. Keep in mind though that each gospel was written to a different group for a different reason.

They are called the Harmony Gospels or a Harmony of the Gospels. Or, if you are just dealing the Matthew, Mark and Luke (but not John) they are called the Synoptic gospels.
