I'm trying to find a cheap but beautiful dress for my courthouse wedding. I don't want it to be a big ballgown because we will have the ceremony about 2 years later so i will wear a ballgown then.
Now i'm looking for an informal wedding dress.
It doesn't really have to be a wedding dress though, maybe just plain beautiful (but not too expensive).
I wanted it to be either cream, champagne or ivory (NOT white).
So if you have any good web sites or stores, please let me know.

What kind of dress did you wear to your wedding? (Picture would be great)
What kind of a wedding did you have? (courthouse, church, outside)

Have you looked at Ann Taylor. Also close to and after New Years, a lot of these types of dresses will get heavily marked down, especially at dept stores. Two other thoughts, try Jessica McClinktok (may not have spelled that right) I know our mall has one. Also Davids Bridal has simple dresses, my friend just paid full price for $90 for one for a destination wedding. (in wedding dress terms that's considered a bargain- not sure how long you're looking to go) Another thought would of course be a bridesmaid dress in that color.

I got married in the Caribbean and wore a short dress. It wasn't a wedding dress. It was a very pretty dress that I liked and it was appropriate for the type of wedding I had.

You don't need to rely on anyone else for ideas. Go out and find a dress that you like. If, when you put it on, it makes you feel wonderful and beautiful, you'll know it's the dress you're supposed to wear to get married!

J.Crew has some really nice ones but what you can also do is check out the stores in the mall like Dillards, Belk or JC Penney. They usually have some good stuff for you to choose from.I am having a church wedding and my dress is coming from davids bridal.

Good luck and congratulations.

My wedding is going to be very tiny, too. We're having 4 guests (possibly 6), and I bought a knee-length ivory sundress with flowers and a paisly print at the bottom. For a winter wedding, if it's outside, I hope that you're in a much warmer climate than I am. Winter mornings here are typically in the 10's. If it's indoors, then I would suggest taking a look at the bridesmaids dresses available through many bridal gown stores. They are much less expensive and come in many designs. They're usually all available in many colors, including white and ivory. I've also seen brides in pantsuits, simple A-line or sheath dresses, or a nice top and a skirt.

Go to any store, like Ann Taylor or Macy's, and look at their selection of formal wear. You can find a fantastic gown (especially around the Christmas season) at an even more fantastic price!! Office parties are going on, in excess, right now so I'm sure you'll be able to find something beautiful!!!

i haven't gotten married but if i were in your situation i'd go with something similiar to what i wore to prom. it was a white dress that wasn't extravagent, it didn't cling to the body (but didn't hang loose either) it had spaghetti straps and flowed when i'd walk. it had a small "ripple" effect that didn't make it look like a mermaids dress and it had a "pin" that had green and pink dimonds in the shape of a flower on it, but i the i didn't like the green so i took the pin out and put in a pink and silver diamond flower pin. the pin was right infront of my pelvic bone and it accented the dress beautifully. b/c without the pin it would've looked to plain. then i matched my jewlery...it had sliver outline and pink diamonds. a necklace and earrings. and silver high heels. altogether i spend about $60-$70. ($30 for the dress from DEB *see source*, $15 for the jewlery from CLAIRES, and $15 for the shoes for DEB, then i paid my now ex-boyfriends sister to do my hair about $15) and might i say that i looked just as pretty if not prettier than girls that spent $500 on their gowns. so i'd say do something like that, it's not extravagent but it's just right GOOD LUCK and congrats on the wedding!!! :)

I was looking for the same thing and found a beautiful dress that was ivory on www.jcpenny.com. If you go to that site and go to the women's department and then click on the bridal shop it will take you to the dress. The dress is only $130.00!!

Try your local Retail stores, like JC Penney's, Macy's or Dillard's. They have all kinds of dresses in different price ranges. Some bridal shops have discounted informal gowns too.

I got married in a chapel. But if I could go back and redo my dress I would get something light and flowing, and probably silver in color. I saw Sami Brady on Days of our Lives wearing a silver wedding dress and it was soooo beautiful. There is a store in the mall called Deb's and they saw beautiful dressess for inexpensive prices. Good luck on your search for the perfect dress and CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding.
Blessings
