The Military have won the war and have achieved all the initial objectives and have done it as usual with the restrictions given to them by the politicians. The politicians have lost the peace, and cocked the whole thing up leaving the soldiers to mop up the resultant mess.As for the comment 'murdering toe rags'I think that you will find that most of the killing is being done by the Iraqis to the Iraqis.Remember there is good & bad in all peoples and war can bring out the best & worst in people, how would you feel if you saw your best mate blown apart and how would you act toward the people who did it and thats the same if your a soldier or an Iraqi citizen. Its a mess !& Im sure its going to get worse if the troops leave.I get the impresion your a yank hater dont forget they got us out of trouble in WW2 and fought with us for our very survival as a nation.war is crap, but sadly will always be with us if we want to retain our soft & comfortable western lifestyle.

The war, at least as most wars are defined, was over a long time ago and ended with victory. The intent to defeat Saddam Hussein, oust him from power and help establish a democracy was successful in fact. Now as to the efficacy of the new government, the amount of violence in Iraq, etc, that's another story, but the end goals were in fact achieved already. But defeat? How were they defeated? I guess I don't really understand that mentality. The Pentagon actually has been speaking out, and more than they should, quite frankly.

Loosing? Hardly. We are loosing Iraq politically NOT militarily. We have yet to loose a battle in Iraq or Afghanistan. Last I checked, we are killing 50 terrorists to every 1 American. You do the math.
"Used to defeat"???? You must be joking. How many times did we kick your british ***...2 times
How many times did we save your british ***....3 times
I suggest you get your facts straight. You people over there read lies in your school text books. You read about how powerful your empire is and was...and well....we are just laughin over here in the good old USA. But if you want to run your mouth pal...then Why dont you wimps try and stop us. Ill tell you why! Because we would wipe YOU off the face of the earth before you could say "bloody hell".
Keep your mouth shut!

Because we can't get defeated in Iraq. We can fail in Iraq. A teacher told me that once. Because defeat is what in World War II to the Axis Powers. Failure is what the Soviet Union tried to do. An our troops have fought awesome over there, and gave everything they can do to help a country be free. But we have failed. Not defeated. We just have to lick our wounds. An have a less concentrated ground force.

it quite is already lost, yet leaving now might leave a cesspool that would at last develop right into a terrorist haven like Afghanistan replaced into or a nutjob regime like that they had in the past we went in there, or perhaps worse and it quite is yet another Iran. inspite of the undeniable fact that staying there might value a boatload of money and American lives. So the questions is, which way do you choose to lose? Broke with optimistically a democratic Iraq, with extra lost lives, or with funds and yet another Afghanistan type concern in Iraq? there is not any win.

Bush will never admit that he screwed up by invading Iraq. Hell would freeze over first.
Iraq is Vietnam all over again, the US government knew they couldn't win that war from the late 60s onwards. Did they admit defeat and pull out and save the lives of their troops and the billions on the war effort? No, they let it drag on until 1975 when they suffered a humiliating last exit from Saigon. History is repeating itself in Iraq.

Let's remember that the Pentagon has been receiving the lion's share of the government's budget dollars, so to admit defeat would be the same as admitting throwing those billions of dollars in the garbage.

I suppose it would have been better to leave Saddam in charge?
That would make the rest of the world as bad, if not worse tham him. At least the Brits and the Yanks had the guts to try and do something about the situation.

What you are asking is not possible because the conflict is not over. If the conflict is not over ,, how could it be defeat? When you have a fight, the only way there is defeat is when you give up, stop fighting or quit,, we haven't done, either, we are still in the fight. A war is no game, especially when is fought by our country.
