Yes, I believe he was referring to ANY men/women who professed his Word(not only his 12 disciples he had previously prayed for in verses 6-19). And His purpose was to send the saved Gentiles back into to the world so everyone could be witness to the Truth. See John 17: 21-23. "May they also be in us (the 12 and the Trinity) that the world may believe you have sent me...Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me....Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you and they know that you have sent me (You meaning all believers) We (believers) are meant to be vessels of Truth sent into the world to deliver the Good News to all people of the world who do not know Jesus. Jesus was praying for US in this passage. Isn't that AWESOME??

Absolutely. He was praying for all those who would hear the gospel message and believe it, that they would be "one" as He and the Father are "one". That is...unified in purpose.

This is also an interesting scripture because it teaches us something about the nature of God. It makes it quite plain that Jesus and Heavenly Father are separate and distinct beings because:
1) Jesus wasn't praying to himself here
2) Jesus was asking the Father to make his disciples "one" even as He and God were "one", that is, not combined into some sort of composite being made up of many individuals, but unified in purpose.

Those benefits will run out if you do not bless others. I do not see that hitting anybody with an iron is anyplace close exceptional, you might of simply instructed her to depart, and that you're now not interested by gossip, to get a existence, or do not you have got any vigour for your phrases, that you just must motel to bodily violence? It may be a crime to do what you probably did for a motive. Probably the motive she is nuts is from the final time you hit her with anything! Goodness..I am joyful I don't reside by means of you.

His prayer is for unity.

This unity is manifested when those listening say, “Amen,” or “So be it,” in conclusion. For this to be possible, they have to understand and be in agreement with everything said. It would be unfitting, therefore, to mention in prayer a subject that is unknown to some present.
