eva diane, it is natural for the gamecocks to fight each other. A father will kill his own son and brothers who have spent there entire lives together will kill each other when they are 4-6 months old.

It is different than pitsbulls. Pitbulls have to be beaten and staved inorder for them to fight, gamecocks don't. Gamecocks will fight to the death everytime. Gamecocks are like no other chicken in the world.

anything called a sport that involves an animal suffering should be made illegal.
Aside from the cruelty angle, there's something very sad about a group of people wanting one animal to harm another animal. What kind of person receives any kind of pleasure from someone else's suffering for either personal or financial reasons? A seriously demented one, that's who.
I have a major issue with these kinds of people bringing up children. The innocence of a very young child is much like an animal's- they can't understand you- all they know is when you are being kind, or being cruel. If a person can sit by and allow an animal to rip apart another, or to hurt an animal out of frustration etc, then what happens when a young child is a continuous bed wetter, or cries constantly or when a toddler is bullying another?
To be part of cockfighting, ultimately tells the world that yes, you have a very small C0CK. That's why you have to pay to have birds kill eachother... because of a deep-rooted insecurity about the size of your genitalia and the ability to use your brain to make money a decent way.

It sounds like you condone it. Most states have outlawed this practice due to cruelty to animal laws and such. This may be natural behaviour but not exactly when arranged for gambling purposes. Then it is artificially arranged and the animal has no choice. Have a nice holiday.

It may be natural to fight but I don't believe it happens to the point of death in most cases. I had chickens growing up and our two roosters would fight but it was never to the point of fatality.
This sport is nothing more than a sick spectacle for humans. It's no different than two pits fighting.

Of course this should be illegal. Whats the purpose in it anyways. Its sick to put two animals up against each other. This type of activity should be illegal and everyone who participates in in should be fined or imprisoned. Its like putting two kids in a room with only one toy, of course they are going to fight over it! Its just sick to me.

I understand this is important in some cultures, and when I was a kid while visiting in Texas at my grandmothers house I use to see fighting birds everywhere around where she lived...but I don't think its a healthy sport, if you want to call it that. Its not natural for the birds to fight like that, they strap on razors onto their spurs to make the fight more vicious.
