to discuss a myriad of subjets like science, math, history, engineering, medicine, the list could go on and on, his level of knowledge would be like conversing with a 2 year old today. Why then do so many people take such blind faith in the writings of 3000 year old men who's knowledge of the meaning of life would be limited only to their imagination.

You have a very good point. The ways of life were completely different back then. But what has always confused me is that the bible is supposed to be the word of God. But...it is all coming from Man. There are two view points here...one being that a non christian would believe that the bible is mans creation and translation...the other view being that of a christian view that this is Gods word and they live by it. So from a realistic stand point is it really that realistic to live your life today in 2006 by the words of men from 3000 yrs ago? Or if you believe that these are Gods own words then you are living by the word of God???
Making sense? It all just seems too confusing for me.

Really? How would have held up with Pythagoras? He did much more than just discover what is now referred to as the Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagoras and his followers contributed to music, astronomy and mathematics. Of course, it was only 2,600 years ago that he lived. Is that close enough?

Oh, and how about King Solomon, the wisest of men? He lived about 3,000 years ago. He was quite a philosopher. Read Ecclesiastes.
