hey iwas born here and still live here, and i still love to stare at the skyline once in a while, it is always breathtaking.
Don't worry, it will look better than ever once they build the freedom tower, that building will make a new generation of little newyorkers fall in love with the city again.

My first time in NY was back in 1987, one night I had dinner at 'Windows on the World', the view from there was absolutely breathtaking; I always thought that one day I would have gone back to NY with my son and shown him the WTC; I went to NY last March and the towers weren't there anymore...My son and I went to Ground Zero...it was one of the saddest experiences of my life....and the skyline...is never gonna be the same again...no matter what they'll built there...on that very spot something will always be missing...

I think of the gaps in the skyline where the Twin Towers used to be as a huge memorial to the people who lost their lives there.

I so agree with your thoughts on the New York skyline.
How one day could change it is beyond my comprehension.
I have a photograph of my daughter on the Hudson shoreline (in Jersey) with the Towers behind her. She was very young at the time and even she is staggered that there is now an empty space.
I've been to NYC twice but we never went to the Towers.
I'm so glad we didn't, it would just have made it all the more bitter-sweet.
I've been up the Empire State Building twice and love that.
Maybe on your next trip you could go there.

I lived in NY from 1997 till 2001. In August of 2001, my parents were visiting me. I took them all over the city. We were going to go up to the observation deck at the WTC, but there was a huge line. They had seen it years ago, I had never been up there. We figured, I could go whenever I wanted, and they had already seen it. About a month later, the attacks happened.

I used to see the Twin Towers everyday of my life. I grew up in Woodbridge, NJ which is just across the Arthur Kill from Staten Island (my friend lives a block from the waterfront). I used to be able to say that I saw NYC everyday of my life, I can't say that anymore.

I live in NYC but not when 9/11 happened..... seen both but will NEVER forget those who passed away that day. The view is still pretty driving in from New Jersey.
