Yes. Children can be christened in the UK. I don't know what proportion of christenings take place because the parents actually believe in the ceremony and how many take place because well you know we thought it would be nice to have one and that's what you do isn't it?

I would like there to be a secular naming ceremony available like the civil marriage where you can have the family get together and pretty dresses without going through a religious rite.

We do - if the parents are Christians and want their baby to be brought up as one too.
