Mmmm...sandwiches! Although I'm always advising people to cut out bread in order to loose weight quicker and get rid of a "doughy" look to your body, I cannot stop eating bread! I would just try to stop buying it but my family eats it and I'm the one who spends a lot of time in the kitchen preparing meals.
How much is eating bread really damaging my efforts to loose weight? I have a new baby and want to get my body back into beautiful shape. I am nursing and would like to loose 35 pounds, but I will realistically be really happy with 20. I work out at least 5 days per week, drink lots of water, get good rest and all that great stuff.
Please give me your opinions and advice, especially if you know what it would take to help myself resist bread and other potentially fattening foods.
Thank you!

Consuming more calories than you are burning is what is sabotaging your fitness efforts.
Alot of people cut out carbs when they diet and that's wrong. You need carbs to fuel your body; it's your body's main energy source.
Your 'working out' 5 days a week, which is great! But are you working out in your target heart rate for at least 20 minutes, 3 times a day? I can't stress enough to my clients that they need to track their heart rate to really assess their progress.
Track your calories, your going to find two things 1) your eating too many calories or 2) your not eating enough of the right things; your diet should consist of 17% unsaturated fats, 33% protein, and 50% carbs.
Good luck--train hard!!

Short answer is yes! That's a ***** because I love bread too. However, it will sidetrack your diet if your trying to lose weight. Stick to good protein and complex carbs in moderation. No processed food! It takes disipline but ya gotta ditch the bread if ya want to lose the weight! Thing is, the right answer boils down to, What works for you and what is acceptible by you! Remember this, no matter what kind or how much of a carb you eat, it turns to sugar in your body. Your body then releases insulin to lower the sugar level. The sugar (glucose) gets used as energy, stored as energy, and excess is FAT! If you are not working out almost every day you probably eat too many carbs which get stored as fat because your body only uses so much for energy and energy storage, Too much carbs is how we put on weight. So eating an adequate amount of protein and moderate complex carbs gives you a better chance of maintaing and losing unwanted fat. Here's a great resource, Protein Power by Dr. Michael Eades. Good luck and it is ok to enjoy some bread. You just gotta figure out what works and is alright for you! Good Luck

Baby girl...you have no choice but to cut the bread f you want to loose weight. First of all if your going to do it the healthy way...get some wheat bread. Second...bread sticks to your insides from what many people say. It is hard to dispose of from the body. It takes long to digest so threrfore it the body absorbs all the carbs and stores them. Honestly...if you want to loose weight the only way I found that works w/o taking diet meds is to just eat once a day around lunch time. You can eat whatever (your bready sandwich) but don't eat anymore after that. You will notice a change in your body within 3 days if you do this. I had a baby 3 years ago and worked my *** off to loose weight then finally I tried this and to this day when I need to drop a few pounds...i eat once a day at kunch time and I excrecise for 30 minutes a day for 3 days a week. Not much huh...well, i was 170 after I had my baby and within 3 months of having him I did this and I been at 115 for 2 1/2 years now. Good luck and god bless. Don't knock it before you try it. Go ahead...don't be scared...just try. This diet also tests your willpower. How bad do you want that weight to come off. I knwo you can do it. I did it!

You are doing a good job! but to really see the results this is how it should be. you eat your body weight* 8 = your calories to eat per day for eg: if you weigh 150* 8 = 1200. doesnt matter what you eat! but then bread has lotz a carb in it. I luv bread but then I make sandwich with one slice n eat slow to enjoy my sandwich and add soup to my meal..... I keep lotz of baby carrots and yogurt and ofcourse drink water. you can keep your meal with all these healthy food around and when you crave for bread reach for one of these instead of bread.... n when it comes to exercise yes itz good you r working out 5 dayz a week but the question is how much r u working out? you need to atleast burn 3700 calories per week that is 600 calories a day for 6 dayz a week .....eat about 1200 to 1400 calories but burn 600 calories mixing your exercise with atleast 2 dayz of weight lifting per week.... you will see amazing results.... and again you are nursing the baby u dont wanna cut down on your carb totally baby needs healthy milk tooo...you need to be carefull in what kind of exercise you are adopting dont over do any one for eg: jst trademill, just bycicle which will effect your knee cap.... you got to be moderate and chose different exercise to keep your health intact with out injuries to your leg or any tissue mass.... good luck

try eating whole grain breads. they break down slowly, hence a lower glycemic effect. (which is goood) also if your really working out 5 days a week no food should be that much of a problem to you. make sure your not eating 4-6 hours before bedtime unless its all protein.

Nothing is better for you than a balanced diet. Cutting back on portions is a good thing but it is ultimately bad for you to cut any one thing completely out of your diet as your bady will immediately store all of it when you eat it again. It's called the famine response. Maintain a balanced diet with smaller portions and you'll be just fine.

Nahhh... for cheapness's sake (in college) I started to eat around 5-6 fat slices of multi-grain bread everyday, in addition to regular meals... I've always been 115-120lbs-- it's never altered my weight at all.

Yes i would say lower your bread intake. It really isn't good for you and also increases your sugar levels. You don't have to cut it out but maybe halfing how much you eat!!!
