What you need to do is think about all the negative things that they will say and all the things you think they will be unhappy about and think about what you could say to try and relieve their concerns. Then think about the worst case scenario and how you will deal with it for example if they say you can't go, how will you respond so you don't fall out with them. The phrase 'i know you don't want me to do this but I have really thought about this and it is what i want and it will make me happy, and i would really like you to be happy for me.' works well with my parents!!! It means that by saying no they don't want you to be happy!!

Just explain to them in a calm way that you want to travel to another country. Like make them dinner or something then tell them. but do it very calm and dont blow up when they do.. just stay calm.. dont tell them you will go anyway! that will make things worse if they say no. you are an adult and you can make your own decisions but you also dont want to piss your parents off. I think they will understand eventually, even if they are old fashioned. Good Luck and have fun in Ireland!!

If you are at least 18 years old, you do not need their permission. You might tell the whole truth and add that you are looking forward to learning more about life in other countries. If they are angry, so be it! You cannot please all of the parents all of the time.

Just tell them straight that you're going... but you can just tell them that you r going there 4 some study thing or to explore the world? best just talk with them over dinner nicely, or invite them to lunch and tell them! good luck!

best thing to do is send them a postcard when you get there. that way you can relax and enjoy your holiday without having to go through the stress of arguing with them before going and also they will know where you are and that you are safe when you send the postcard. enjoy your trip you will love it.

only one way . . . just tell them. hopefully if you stay calm and don't get angry they will understand in the end. show that you are mature by not losing your rag during the chat and they are more likely to think that it isn't such a bad idea.

be honest with them
and also tell them that as brazil is good catholic country you are going to another good catholic country, so they have nothing to worry about
if all else fails then just go and send them a postcard.
enjoy your stay.
