What are the cheapest places to live or safest?
There is a job in Irvine that I would like to work at.
How do you get on Section 8 or low income housing?
Also, how much money would I probably need to take with me, just to get situated? I don't want to drive, maybe take the train. Maybe I can get my car shipped later or rent a car out there. Would that be a good idea?

Statistics show that you should move first then get a job.

Take a trip out there first and explore the area you are thinking of moving too OR you can go online and get info about towns etc.

To get on Section 8 or low income housing you must qualify and fill out papers with the county social service department in that area. They go by need, your assests and how many people in your household.

The average amount of money a person needs to survive a move, look for employment etc. is 6 months.
Don't forget you might need 1st months rent, 1 month security deposit and a lot of times last months rent too.

Check the book value on your car.. If it is not worth shipping --sell it and buy another when you get there.
Average price to ship a car --- $750 - $1200.

Bus is the cheapest method of transport ---Train can be high.

Good Luck
