I think you mean Diazepam. If yes, it is the generic Valium. It is a tranquilizer and muscle relaxant, with potential for addiction. It works short term, no longer than about 12 hours and even if you take it for a while then stop, there's no withdrawal symptoms. The addictive part is more psychological. You might start reaching for it, everry time you're a bit anxious.
It is NOT an anti-depressant. Anti-depressants are used long-term and daily, and work on neuro-transmitters, specifically serotonin and dopamine and norepineprin. Valium is not considered seriously addictive. I disagree with others. And the side effects are mild, it has been used for decades. And anyone who gets high with it and a beer must be taking a lot of it. Basically, you'll get more drunk, more dizzy, more sleepy, and that's dangerous if you're going to drive. Your dosage should not exceed 10 mgs, usually 5 mgs if you are new to it, and do not have serious anxiety.

Diazepam can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or for a longer time than your doctor tells you to. Tolerance may develop with long-term or excessive use, making the drug less effective. This medication must be taken regularly to be effective. Do not skip doses even if you feel that you do not need them. Do not take diazepam for more than 4 months or stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor. Stopping the drug suddenly can worsen your condition and cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiousness, sleeplessness, and irritability).

I believe you are referring to diazepam. That's the generic name for the minor tranquilizer Valium. It is generally a temporary treatment for something (it has quite a number of uses). Like most medications, if used properly, it can be very beneficial; if used improperly, it can be highly addictive.

Diazepam is in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Diazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety, seizures, and muscle spasms.
Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety, nervousness, and tension associated with anxiety disorders. It is also used to treat certain types of seizure disorders and muscle spasms. More info on the website I am listing.

Diazapan is an antianxiety medication. When used correctly (not with a beer) under the care of a Dr, it can really help for short term treatment of anxiety.

Diazapam is a minor tranquilliser of the family of tranquilisers known as benzodiazepines. It is usually only appropriate for short-term use as regular users can develop tolerance and, yes, there is a genuine risk of addiction if used for more than a short period of time.
