I have two 12 week old kittens and one 6 week old. I have heard that the 6 week old shoudn't really be away from her mother and am now concerned she is spending too much time alone. Myself and my wife are at work all day but I ensure I spend a couple of hours with her before I go to work and then we both ensure we spend the whole evening with all of the kittens. When bed time comes around we have been leaving all of the kittens in the lounge but I am now wondering whether we should take the 6 week old up to sleep with us in the bedroom. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

the kitten might grow up to depend on sleeping with you all the time i guess its good for them to learn now to have a little independance aslong as they have there mother around its fine.

I think normally it is 8 weeks to be away from its mother. But kittens are very good at adapting. I would imagine it will cope well as you have two other kittens, so it is not alone, they should be great company for each other whilst you are at work. Leave plenty of toys around as they get a bit bored. If you bring the kitten to bed you are probably going to spoil it and it will get used to it, it will ruin your sleep as they kinda take over the bed esp. as they get bigger (believe me I have a very spoilt cat at home!) If you think the kitten is a bit upset, try a hot water bottle in a cat basket (under a blanket of course) and maybe an old manual wind up clock under the blanket also, I have read that this might mimic the mothers heat and heart beat.
But cats generally are more independent, not like a dog where it needs constant attention!
good luck with ur wee baby!

If the 6wk old kitten is bonding with the 12wk old kittens and is able to sleep with them to keep her warm, then I would think she should be OK. If not keep her in a box (opened) with a very soft blanket. Same goes for during the day while your at work. Do you go home at lunch to check on her, if not, it maybe a good idea if your able. The most important thing with small babies is they MUST stay warm. Even if that means she sleeps with you. You can tell if she is cold by holding her and her whole body is cool or even cold. If her body is cool to touch warm her immediately! Spending time with her is very important for the bonding, at her age it's critical whether it be with you, your wife or the other kittens. Being with the humane society has taught me a lot about the care of little babies. I hope this helped in some way. Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

i think a 6 week kitten should have as much company as possible. at 6 weeks they're still very close to the mother and the siblings and are always snuggled up to eachother. When my cat had kittens all 4 used to sleep on my bed. if the young kitten doesnt snuggle with the older kittens then definitely let her sleep in your room with you. she'll feel protected and loved and i think its a nice way to get a bond.

At 6 weeks the kitten is still socialising with other cats, she should be around her litter mates, kittens of her own age, and her mother. If she doesn't spend enough time around other cats she'll grow up thinking she's human - also called 'poorly socialised'.
Thats why kittens and pups stay with the litter and mother until 8 weeks.

Oh Im so jealous! I miss my cats! (I moved OS and had to leave them behind) I think you are doing the right thing. As long as the 6 week old kitten is with the other 2 when you are away then you are fine. I would not take one kitten to bed and leave the other 2 as they might get jealous and then they could exclude him/her while you are at work. As long as you play with them all as much as possible they will all be fine.

Enjoy! - Wish it was me!

He's fine, especially if he has kitten friends. I would take it in bed with me, because I cannot sleep without my cat, but keep in mind that this means it will not be OK to stop him from sleeping in your bed when he gets older! Plus the other ones should be allowed to come too, or they'll be jealous and may harm the little one.

you probable shouldn't bypass away him for long classes of time, as he's only lost his mom, brothers and sisters and his domicile he will experience worried, and would even get scared. he's only six weeks, that's approximately 3 years previous. might you bypass away a three year previous on my own in the domicile some days after taking him removed from his relatives? you will desire to make effective someones there continually whether this isn't any longer you. Kittens this age can get unwell, and while they do they fade very quickly, he would desire to probable have somebody to verify on him a minimum of each 2 hours till he's 12 weeks previous (only previous the age of concern) to make effective he in high quality condition and healthful. desire this facilitates, and stable success!

It sounds okay, your spending the most time u can with her, and she has the other 2 for companionship plus she prbly sleeps most of the time u are away. Putting her in your bed would probably be nice but not necessary unless u want her to get spoiled.

You are right she should still be with her mother, but so long as she is feeding, drinking and doing what comes natural she should be okay. Presumably she is in the company of the other two kittens, in which case she should be okay. (NB female cats can have kittens themselves quite young so if one or both of the other two are males ... etc etc).
