from a used car dealer. We registered it and insurured it. We paid 900.00 on sales tax. I went and got pictures for the insurance company. Then I took it to get a sticker and it didnt pass. It needed brakes and one air shock. We brought it back, the guy we bought it from said he cant afford to fix it, so we have to pay half. Now this car has a 30 day warranty, it should of been looked at before we bought it. I have 3 children and not alot of time and money to get my money back and wait for the 900.00 for the sales tax and no time to look for another one. I have been driving my husband pickup truck and it has screwed my whole wk up because i have to get him from work. What can I legally do in this situation?

you bought the car as is and with all faults, however since you bought it at a dealership he is responsible for a current inspection sticker. (If it was not current in the month you bought it - he would have to pay to bring it up) -
You said you have a 30 day warranty - what does it cover?

I had a Tahoe and every 25,000 it needed new U-joints and used a ton of gas. Edit This person asked if anyone had problems. I am just stating that I bought it new and the U-joints were replaced twice and it had 50,000 miles on it when I got rid of it. I'm sure as hell glad that some moron knows more than I do about what happened with it. I wonder if they would like to pay the $300 that Chevy garage charged me the second time because it was out of warranty.

small claims court is always an option but each state has diff laws called " lemon" laws that cover cars bought from dealers. so check with the state laws and maybe there is a fraud dept for consumers to complain to since he is licensed to sell.
if he thinks he will lose his license then he may discover he has enough money to fix the car, after all, he still has the $16k you paid him so he is full of it.
be a squeeky wheel.

in Virginia a dealer must get the car inspected (sticker) for you. I would ck with your local state laws.

its not the salespersons fault. its the dealerships. they are soppose to run it through the shop before they actually put in on their lot. i hate to tell you, but you definitly got ripped off. the dealership should DEFINITLY pay for the costs.

good luck. :)
