I've just sent my Father a birthday card writing the usual greeting of:

'Wishing you a very happy birthday'

As usual I was lacking inspiration and wrote the same old thing. Can somebody suggest some alternatives to write in future?

(Note: Greetings I can actually use would be appreciated)

How about the following.
Another candle on your cake-
Well that's no need to pout.
Be glad that you have strength enough
To blow the damn thing out!

Many happy returns of the day of your birth;
Many blessings to brighten your pathway on earth;
Many friendships to cheer and provoke you to mirth;
Many feastings and frolics to add to your girth.

What I did for my mum's birthday was to give her a specially ordered card with the front page from the (English) Daily Mirror from the day she was born. Don't know where you hail from but there must be similar deals wherever you're from.

There are books that have greetings to put inside cards, look for them online.

Dad - you're one year older, but ten years wiser... Thank you for your wisdom and guidance over the years.
