I'm in my young 20s & 'suffer' from dark hair. I feel like yetti-legs - I try to deal with it by regularly epilating (so am smooth) but sometimes get other problems like ingrown hairs :(
It causes a few personal problems as I am embarrased by it - it looks unsightly (even though its a perfectly normal biological entity! so by rights should be forgiven & OK), anyway I feel guys aren't that fine with it. Whilst I can forgive the circumstance as being genetic and frankly quite normal...Do guys REALLY mind? would he actually be ok with it? I cringe everytime I think about having to ‘tell him’ before we get closer, & then him actually seeing me ‘as I am’ (because I keep my legs covered most of the time). I hate having to doubt my trust, but all I hear is that guys want bikini-beach beauties 'although' a slightly unshaven leg or two is Ok :p
So any help as to how I tackle my problem? will I be doomed to fear my guys' opinion & wavering attraction? Hopefully guys understand.

woops I did post it twice - but I'm getting twice the answers!
I am aware of social constructs. It's unfortunate isn't it how our hopes & fears are played upon in daily life?
By nature, I'm laidback & don't want this burden. But it's hard battling such an insecurity that has a phycial feature - I can look at it thankfully tho; it could be worse.

my, a lot of ppl don't realise that shaving makes it worse? - epilation, wax or creams or lasers are the best options for dark hair.

any nice bloke wont be too bad about it. might be a bit weird at first but if he likes you enough he should be fine with it and understand.
no ones perfect and those that seem it at first are often hiding under a few inches of slap

Well as long as the girl has a great personality and looks good, I'm sure I'd overlook her legs if they were like that, although there is a limit. If you let them get out of control, well, that just says you don't look after yourself too great, but on the whole, a little hair probably wont be the end of the world.
I personally wouldn't necessarily be put off by it, depending on how bad it was though. Some men aren't bothered about the legs and are more bothered about other things, its just the guys personal preference.
So are you single? (Joke)

Sorry sweetie they do NOT understand. Shave them! On a regular daily basis or get them waxed. Or invest in electrolosis.
I have dark hair as well. I get it waxed on a regular basis and shave in between. To be honest I can't stand when my legs, bikini areas and underarms aren't smooth. But hey that is just me.I use a good shaving cream and always slough the dead skin off with a sugar scrub after to help avoid ingrown hairs. There are also lotions that directly address preventing in grown hairs as well.

Unfortunatley most guys are only interested in where your legs END. So, if you meet a guy that really likes you, I'd say , no he won't mind at all. YOU are the one putting too much pressure on yourself to the point of paranoia. Now THAT a guy will pick up on. Forget about it. Have fun.

ingrown hairs is something to expect when epilating. you should try to shave everyday if you want smoothness w/o the prob. me tho, i just dont do anything. i shave every few months in the winter and few weeks unless im showin my legs in the summer. i more of a jean girl even in summer. my guy doesnt mind my hairyness tho. when it gets real bad he be like your hair about as long as mine and we laugh and make fun of it. we love each other and dont think something like that matters. make sure your with the right guy, not one trying to find a trophy to show off.

My girlfriend is the same as you. Particularly the ingrowing hairs. But to I dont mind, as long as its not left to grow out of control! Its seems to be more of a problem for you to get over than for a guy.
We all have our insecurities and imperfections, mostly brought on by unrealistic representations of beauty on tv, film and magazines etc. The sooner we all realise this then the happier we're going to be :)

Hey, i know exactly how you feel, im half norweigen, and i get the furry legs and what not, and you know how i dealt with it?
I stopped shaving.
I tell the men i date that if i shave my legs, im doing it for me, and not them, and if i dont shave them, than they have no right to complain. Its my body.
... thats... eh. my personality though, i dont suggest it for everyone.
Ive noticed though, that most the time, if a man thinks hes going to get laid, he doesnt care that much about the legs.
I suggest just not worrying about it. Its just hair, god, men have no room to judge, they have hair on their backs!
Anyway, im 100% sure that no matter how furry your legs are, youre still beautiful, and no man would turn that down.
I have a boyfriend, and he just makes jokes about my refusal to shave unless i think we're going to sleep together or i have extra time while getting ready in the morning.
Just keep your body to your time, dont worry about what anyone else will think. You dont have to tell them, or explain it. You can inform them that you have hairy legs and if they dont like it, you dont want to be with someone that shallow.
Be strong dear, its just hair.

The great thing about sexuality is that whatever physical characteristics you might have, someone, somewhere, will find them attractive. Many men (not quite so many in America, unfortunately) like women with hairy legs.

Is it really as bad as you think it is?
Any man who loves you, should love you hair and all. My man doesn't mind too much when I don't shave my legs for a week.
If it really bothers you, maybe you should consider having lazer treatment, its expensive but it works best on dark hairs.

Well, you can get a wax. Although it is quite painful it should be worth it. There are other products out there like 'Hair today gone Tomorrow' or 'Nair' you should try them all.
Good Luck.
