You can translate:
1.- Ciao,mi chiamo Mario.Piacere di conoscerti.
or
2.- Ciao,il mio nome è Mario.Piacere di incontrarti.
The verb "to meet" has several meanings in Italian like incontrare, conoscere, onorare, affrontare, etc.etc.
However the sentence #1 is the most popular here in Italy.

I would if I could but I can't. I've already had a telling off by Yahoo Answers today for replying to someone in French - when the question specifically asked that the reply be in that language. Apparently to speak in tongues is against the rules.
