I've recently found out I have a brother, who'd be 21 now. He was adopted at birth in the district of Glasgow in Scotland. I'd really like to find out more about him but my parents aren't really being forward with information.

If anyone on here has information etc on tracing adopted siblings, please let me know!

Oh, I am going through the same as you, I have been trying to get answers for 10 months now and have been passed from pillar to post since March this year, but I have not long ago, just found the right department that I should be contacting. I contacted my Local Authority- Social Services- Adoption Team, they aim to help search for, locate and instigate contact between family members.
I did it this way because I couldn't afford to pay for an independent intermediary service and Norcap are too expensive.
There is also something called the Adoption Contact Register, you can find this service at Gro.Gov You will need to send you full Birth certificate and Marriage Certificate (if applicable) The charge for this is £30, but, not all adopted persons go onto this register so it is a gamble whether he is on there or not.
Try a website called Missing-you.net there is a message board for Adopted people and family members looking for Adopted people, you can type in an area and name in the left hand side of the screen, there are people on there willing to give very good advice. You say the Adoption took place in Scotland, so try this: Birth Link,Family Care,21 Castle Street,Edinburgh,EH2 3DN
Tel: 0131 225 6441 Email: mail@birthlink.org.uk
But I think the best way to go through this is through your local authority, I think you get a bit of counselling along the way.
The Very Best of Luck X

This could open a whole can of worms which has to be handled VERY carefully! Your brother could have feelings of resentment towards your parents and a whole lot of hatred stored up. Your parents will also have all sorts of feelings about htis too. If you're not careful you could wind up with a big family argument and divide and wind up an emotional wreck. There will always be things that remind you about this brother no matter what course of action you take or the result. I'd just warn you to be careful and accept any offer of counselling you and your family are given. If you find him and decide to meet him take it slowly and follow the advice given to you by various organisations that deal with this sort of thing.

Why aren't your parents letting you know where he is? That doesn't make sense.
