Caramel coloring is added to the liquid because it makes it look rich. Would you now be comfortable drinking a Coke if it were suddenly pea green or brownish yellow? It was actually supposed to be green,but its not.The real colour is dark brown which makes it look black.The credit for this goes to the chemicals and cokes secret formula.

it's not dark brown but it is blackish-brown(70%black)and it is because teh color represents the word "cola".But previously when it was 1st made it was green color....
