Everyone knows that Christmas is all about presents, gluttony, getting drunk, watching the Queens speech and the odd Bond movie.
But in recent years, the religious brigade have hijacked this traditional holiday and tried shoehorn in some sort of biblical theme.

They're trying to do the same with Sundays too.
Traditionally, Sundays are a day for sleeping off a hangover.
But recently, they've tried to change it into a religious day, and even have the cheek to give it an alternative name which they blatantly stole from the name of Ozzy Ozbournes band, the Sabbath.

Yes it annoys me no end. Christ is the Celtic pagan word for the Sun messiah. Christmas is the Celtic pagan festival for the birth of the new sun. Every winter solstice the sun dies as he drops below the horizon. But by the 25th december is clearly above the horizon again. Signifying the birth of the new sun. Which is why we have evergreen tree's, holy, ivy, mistletoe etc. Santa was a means to distribute ones wealth to the less fortunate, anonymously. In order to not show off ones wealth. It has been turned into an exercise of gluttony, consumerism and extreme showing off of ones wealth. Totally ugly and a complete reversal of this beautiful festival. But then again the so called Christian plagiarists destroy every beautiful thing they get hold of. Easter is also Celtic pagan fertility festival, Ishtar. The Celtic Cross. The sun in the cross constellation during the spring equinox, signifying the resurrection of life after its death in the winter. Which is why we have fertility eggs and bunnies. Basically all the early Christians did (called the Magi) was substitute the middle eastern myth man Jesus instead of the Sun messiah and started calling themselves Christians. Practicing Shaman,.. quantum physics rocks.

That is your opinion.

If you want to get technical, the origins of what Christians know as Christmas originated with the pagans who celebrate Dec 21 as the first day of the Winter Solstice.

While Jesus Christ may not have been born on Dec 25, the day we call Christmas, we still celebrate that day as His birthday.

As for the Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne's "Black Sabbath," those are two entirely different things. How do you know Ozzy and his bandmates didn't steal the "Sabbath" part of the name from the Christian Sabbath?

I think it is disgraceful that more and more people are now celebrating Christmas as a religious festival and as everyone knows it is an consumer event to promote the purchase of goods at a time when people want to just hibernate and not participate in their civic duty to the economy. I think that the true spirit of Christmas passed to us from Prince Albert which considered the true pleasures of the Bond film, consumerism, wholesale slaughter of animals to gorge ourselves until sick and the delightful homage to mammon that is the Christmas special gift packs of Beckham aftershave, socks and useful mini-football that captures the essential elements of this festive occasion has been readily forgotten. Now Christmas has been corrupted from its true purpose that all that everyone seems to be doing is having a time of spirituality, contemplation, prayer and largesse that detracts from the true meaning of the Christmas holiday shopping season. It would be disgraceful if because we needed to pander to the political correct crowd we had to get rid of age old traditions such as the Boxing day Sales.

The meaning of Christmas has evolved over the decades.

It' started off with it's original true meaning, about celebrating Jesus and all that sh1te..

Then it became about families/friends spending time together, and exchanging gifts.

Now it is a sickening exploitation of peoples generosity, it starts in mid November and doesnt stop until the end of the year - it's relentless, and disgusting.

I am an Atheist, and would prefer it just revolved around family and friends and having a good time, not about how many presents you get.

You've forgotten the obvious one - have you seen what the bible-thumping twats have done to Easter? Four days off work to get down to Ibiza or Tenerife and shag everything that moves (and one or two that don't, from memory) and now what are they on about? Some long haired hippy got himself nailed to a tree and Mel "Sugartits" Gibson made a film about it. In Swahili. Load of bollocks.

I never practiced getting drunk at christmas time
The pagan ritual of christmas was a drunken orgie of rape and sodomy.
but the Saints of christiandom desired to change the the TRADITION to a more righteous FREEDOM of religious truth. Christmas can be what you make of it. Im sure God will NOT judge evil to the family that worships in righteousness. He wil judge rape and sodomy!
As for sundays sleeping off hangovers! Wrong!
Sundays are for christians to go to church and sing hymns and listen to a gospel message from the presiding church leadership.
I spent the most of my life NOT having hangover and going to church and singing hymns. Some people STILL believe in the righeousness of worshipping God and giving him thanks

Religion spoils everything. It uses guilt and shame, and pointless rules to wield power over others. Away with it. More wine!

I agree, until UK firms started being news by banning decorations I had no idea that Christians were now using it as some kind of vehicle to promote their 'religious festival'.

And as for Sundays, don't even get me started, just more coin in the collection plate for Christianity PLC!!!!
