The answer was NO. Firing 50 bullets at a group of unarmed partygoers resulting in the death of one of them is a depicable crime. Naturally the scum that murdered him wont even go to court let alone jail, and will probably be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation when they leave the job for the stress that they have suffered.
Who in their right mind would live in such a sick country.

Do any of you critics actually take the time to understand what happened before you go off spouting your misguided opinions? There's going to be some news breaking today that will change the public perception of what really happened. Here's what I found out so far.

The men who were at the nightclub, and especially the groom-to-be, a man getting married in the morning to a woman with whom he had already fathered two children, was trying to coerce a stripper at the club to have sex with his whole group of friends.

I'm told that they didn't want to take NO for an answer and they got ugly about it. A bouncer intervened and put a stop to their behavior and they didn't like that. The bouncer was armed so one of the men went and retrieved a .380 automatic and their plan was to wait until the bouncer came out of the club and they were going to do a drive-by murder on the bouncer.

The brave men of the 103 Squad found out about it an confronted the group to SAVE THE BOUNCER'S LIFE. Shots were fired and the groom-to-be died. A member of the group fled with the .380 and it was hidden at Baisley House Project.

The Cops didn't tell the Chief or the Mayor because they knew that those clowns would have said something and the gun would have disappeared before it could be recovered. The Police have the gun now and a slug recovered from one of the vehicles matches the .380.

My question is, will the (dis)Honorable Mayor Bloomberg or the (not so) reverend Sharpton apologise for all the hateful rotten things that they said about these brave Officers?

Why would you listen to Geraldo?????? He's screwed up more stories than anyone. The answer should have been yes AND No.

First, a Police Officer can be held accountable for his/her actions three ways (where as a regular citizen can only be held accountable two ways).
a) criminally - if the Officers did something illegal in their actions. If they shoot someone, they have to show that they were "in fear for their lives, or were attempting to apprehend a felon in the commission of a crime and not stopping the person would give imminent danger to society, or the suspect had a weapon. Look up NY state statutes - they will have the laws regarding police shootings - see what the criteria is first.

b) civilally - they can be sued by anyone. They can receive a judgement individually (which can literally wipe them out personally of anything they own) and the Department can be sued and pay out the a**.

c) They can be held accountable departmentally which can cost them their jobs, future jobs, pension, etc.

So don't think that this thing is over and done with. It's only begun. IF the Police Department does their job in investigating the circumstances, then the facts should come out. If not, then the family should hire an attorney and that attorney should hire an independant GOOD investigator to verify facts and circumstances to get at the truth.

Something else to just consider...I'm not justifying the shooting at all because I don't know the facts BUT, have you ever been involved in a shooting??? I have and believe me, confusion is just a part of what goes on. Your scared to death, don't want to die, see something and think it's something else, hear a shot thinking it's coming from the suspect and it's your partner who's shooting....you get tunnel vision and you can only focus on one thing. Cars screeching, noise from all around...it's hell and when it's over you thank God your alive and then pray you didn't hurt anyone innocent. How do you train for that? For the most part, you can't and God help you if your wrong because what comes down is exactly what is happening now. Were these cops rogue cops or guys just trying to do their jobs and a horrible set of circumstances went in front of them. All it takes is one thing to trigger events like this....the driver thinks it's bullshit to stop for a cop...so they speed off. What does the cop think? That the suspect is running and has something big to hide. That the cops are in plain clothes and the civilian, knowing they are in a bad area, think these are not cops and are just trying to get away to save themselves. What one of these people thinks is probably different than what the others think. It doesn't make the situation right, just very, very tragic.

I wish more people would participate in ride along programs to see what the cop sees, hear the things that are being said and then people would get a total different aspect of that job. The indians had it right, no one can understand another until they walk a mile in their shoes. It's the same with racism. How can I, as a white person, understand what a black person has to put up with in regards to the police and/or society? Put me in their shoes and I get stopped and "harrassed" when I've done nothing wrong, and my attitude would change pretty quickly. It's easy to sit on the safe, protected comfortable side of any debate and make judgements. Get right in the middle of something and your opinions would change pretty quickly.

As far as living in a sick country. I couldn't agree more. Just look at all the people who have been caught (and put on national tv) soliciting young children for sex?? Yes, we live in a sick society and my question to you is What are YOU going to do to change it positively??

Heres the scoop. The cops were a UC street crime unit and were conducting surveillance in an area know for high drug traffic and shootings. Tensions are high and lets face it...trying to run over cops (or anyone for that matter) with a car is deadly force. I find it very, very hard to believe that the police didn't identify themselves and in fact I'm sure that they shouted out who they were several times as well as had shields displayed on chains around their necks. Cops don't make it a point to gun down people for laughs. Cops gun down people in most circumstances because a situation presented itself where it's an "us" or 'them".
So...until you understand anything about human nature, the hell hole neighborhoods cops work in and what they deal with your opinion is unwarranted and smacks of ignorance.

You stress the point the victim was black. Do you know that the police that did the shooting were 2 black men, 1 hispanic man and 2 white men? If the victim had not tried to assault them with his car he would probably still be here. Also I live here and love it. If what happens here bothers you so much then mind your own business.

You do not know all the facts yet, but thanks for jumping to conclusions, is that how you get your exercise?

In 9 out of 10 of these cases they investigate and find the shooting was justified. Do the papers make a big deal of the truth, hell no, because pinheads like you would rather hate the cops and make snap judgements. That is the same mindset the Klan had when they lynched blacks in the south. I can just wonder if you also have a pointy hat.

Why do you have to say the shooting by police of a black guy.
There would not have a problem if the man and his friends had stopped to talk to the police. There would not have been a problem if the man had not backed his car into the police. There would not have been a problem if the man had not crashed his car into a police van. Cops have a difficult job and unless you are willing to do it yourself dont judge them. They have to make split second decisions and that is never easy.
Yes of course there are bad cops, but not all of them are that way, alot of them are proud to serve their community and want to make the neighborboods safer.

Does this mean that we can count on YOU getting the hell out and leaving this country to those of us that think that if someone attempts to run over anyone that the cops should have the right to shoot their sorry but.

Well, call me sick but I live in that country and I love it.

What happened was wrong and the person(s) that killed the innocent man should be punished and I hope they will be.

No offense, but Geraldo doesn't speak for everyone. Perhaps you should realize that.
