CM: "No one could stand in His presence if they are not doing exactly as He has commanded us"
"as He commanded us"?? Christians often use "free-will" as a reason for the ills of the world, now we dont have it??
I thought I asked for no Christians talking sh1te...?

judaism= nope jews are too tight with their money.
christianity= made jesus a rival to god so no. plus too many priest child sex abusers.
hinduism= invented kama sutra, again too many gods. god does not like rivals. in the end there can only be ONE ;)
sikhism= mix of hinduism and islam so not unique. plus sikhs are jews in disguise ;)
islam= one god. no partners. god would like it for that ;).
but is it too barbaric? or is that acceptable to god?
p.s. any wanksta who sayz islam is a religion of peace best get his facts sorted arite.
buddhists= reclusive monks who hate women and dont like sex. a big no no;)
satanism= gods arch enemy. so no chance of that lol

Well my answer is that God would choose Buddhism because it is about people finding their own paths and not forcing people to "the orthodox" path.
C M:: You are in error. 1st the reason the question is to Atheists is because you, obviously, would have God pick Christianity..so no answer there. You say you lose nothing if God doesn't exist..I disagree..you lose your free will and you lose the ability to be a life form unto yourself. I try to be a good person and stick to a code of honor but not because "God" threatened me with hell..but because I am grown up enough to do it for MYSELF (kinda like how a kid grows up and has to make own decisions instead of doing it to avoid grounding).
I think too many people use God as a crutch instead of learning to live on their own and I think that if God exists it would keep that person from God because if cannot stand on own then you are not really a whole person.
Also I think if God doesn't exist then the whole "convert or die" is not a good thing and you DO lose by it since you would be killing in the name of a non-existing thing.
If God does exist I don't think God would be a bigot to exclude people who didn't wear a special decoder ring...I would hope it basis it on the person not on the social club they belong to.

Well you don't want to hear from Christians and Shiites but I am Sunni so I guess it's ok!
Asking atheists a question about God on a Religion and Spirituality forum seems rather ironic don't you think?
And Allah knows best about atheists.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim
PS I don't think my post is irrelevant, the fact that you are here is an indication to me that you do have some kind of belief in God or are not sure somewhere deep in your psyche. The irony is that your uncertainty is illustrated by your question. This is the first step to belief. I will pray for you - S

No Sh1te here. But I am Christian. We all have chosen how to believe. I have chosen to be Christian and you disagree with my choice. You have chosen to be Athiest and I disagree with your choice. That doesn't mean I can't have an honest opinion about this subject. And my opinion is:
God wouldn't "chose" a religion. The "religion" would "chose" Him. No one could stand in His presence if they are not doing exactly as He has commanded us.
And if He isn't real, we've got nothing to lose by believing that He is. But if He is real, you've got everything to lose.

it particularly is bumper-sticky label superb: "Atheists: God's chosen human beings." Or, "What might Hitchens do?" you have have been given this way of wild and exciting question here, yet i'm afraid i might would desire to assert that, as an atheist myself, i'm so a tactics from believing in the belief of a private god that, if one confirmed up, s/he'd have some severe explaining to do formerly i might p.c. to be "chosen." so a tactics as i can tell, human beings p.c. the god they deserve, then start up very very nearly right this moment to have interplay that imaginary buddy of theirs in low-stakes cover-and-seek for (a.ok.a., hypocrisy). thank you for a concept-upsetting question. happy Hol(y)daze!

If God was real, he would reject all religions. S/He wouldn't need to believe in a superior power for emotional stability or superstitious comfort. Believe in the truth, and don't let any religion get in the way of that. Most of the violence in our world in religious based, and no true superior being would endorse any of them.

I don't know all the religions, but I think he would chose one that allowed freedom of thought, freedom of actions, freedom of words. The reason that I hate religion so much is that there are so many restrictions that you have to abide by in order to be a good (insert religion here).. and I think it's wrong.

That's a big if, but I would definately choose Hinduism. They seem to be far more optomistic and laid back in their interpretation of the world as aposed to the Abrahamic "you're going to hell unless you complete this checklist".
But as I say, it's a big if.

Atheism. He could watch people be good for good's own sake, and then when they died the good ones would be admitted to heaven. Their moral acts would not have been for reward, but for rightness.
