Does anyone think grades accurately reflect what you have learned or do they only show that you have remembered things long enough to pass a test or a class?

I don't think grades should matter as much as they do! Sometimes the grades are even wrong! So how is that fair??? When you've been absent from school for a while, your grade might go down. But it's not because you're not smart! It's because you were gone, maybe from sickness!

I hate it.

In some classes and tests, grades reflect your short-term memory (the ability to memorize something long enough to take the test on it).

But overall, grades are a fair indicator of what you have learned.

Tests at the time of the class show the latter and are supposed to be an indication of the former.
That said, I aced many of my classes and had a 4.0 GPA in college....do you think I could take those tests today and have the same GPA without retaking the classes? I don't LOL

great question...i do not believe that grades reflect what you've learned...in most cases, grades show that a person is good at taking tests. there are so many students who would score higher if they were to allowed to take oral tests.

They only show what you have remembered; however, they are a good indicator of what you have learned, just not completely accurate.

grades definitely reflect you capacity and your knowledge on a subject. But it is not the only factor to judge a student.
