i am an arabian girl .Hmmm ..about the men around me (father , brothers , uncles ...) i would say YES they do . but im not going to generalize that for all arabian men ^_^

Did you ever read "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"? In that book the author talks about men "going to their cave" in times of emotional upheaval or just for renewal. I agree with this and I know I have done it in the past.
It has nothing to do with being Muslim, Christian, Jewish or whatever, it has to do with being a man and needing that time. If you have not read that book I recommend it highly, it also has nothing to do with punishment, just misunderstanding between the genders.
And Allah knows best about punishment.
