Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual Christian and secular[1] holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus, along with themes such as family, goodwill, giving and compassion. It incorporates Christian religious ceremonies with the traditions of ancient winter festivals such as Yule[2] and Saturnalia. Christmas traditions include Nativity scenes, the exchange of gifts, the arrival of Santa Claus, Christmas cards and decorations and the display of Christmas trees.
Christmas is traditionally celebrated on December 25. It is preceded by Christmas Eve and in some countries is followed by Boxing Day. Some Eastern Orthodox Churches celebrate Christmas on January 7, which corresponds to December 25 of the Julian calendar. These dates are merely traditional and neither is thought to be the actual birthdate of Jesus.
Christmas is celebrated in most countries around the world, owing to the spread of Christianity and Western culture, mixed with the enduring popularity of existing winter celebrations. Various local and regional Christmas traditions are still practiced, despite the widespread influence of American and British Christmas motifs disseminated by film, popular literature, television, and other media.

Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It isn't about the gifts we receive. It is about what we can do for others who might not have anything to eat or wear. If we give of ourselves, we show the love of Christ not only on His birthday but throughout the year too.

Personally, its the time off.
Like to go bird hunting through it with the son and son in law.
Anyway, Christmas is too tainted to be holy.
A person can make it out all they want to in their heart. They can give it all the positive attributes they want to to justify participating in it. That will not correct the facts about the old festivals being kept alive.
1Co 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

To me it is the great event when the Savior was born to us, the world would never be the same again because now we have Emmanuel(God with us) and fear and death are now subject to His power.
As the Hymn says,` and we shall live forever more because of Christmas Day, the birthday of the Lord, and a time for giving thanks and rejoicing with the family and with the body of Christ.

its the time for family and friends, to celebrate life , and the blessings that they have. it should be a time for forgiving and letting go of all the pain and strife in your life with your family.
its the time for adults to experience the joys of being young again though the eyes of their children or grandchildren.
