Freedom is overcomming corruption in our lives. 2 Peter 2:19 "promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved." Freedom is not the right to do what you want, but the power to do what you ought to." Someone may exercise the right to smoke, but has no power to control it. So is he free because he is doingwhat he wans, or a slave because he can't control it. Wheher it is drugs, or drinking, or sex, or anger, or gossip, or over eating, or whatever, it is all he same principle.

According to Fromm (And I agree with him), being free has two components:

1. Being free from restraints - Like god, parents, society, the "herd"
2. Being free to do things - Like a career, or just waste time.

(1) is necessary but not sufficient
(2) is necessary, but cannot be achieved without (1)

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment. I believe,
Being free from sin, having a clear conscience
free from fears controlling your life,
living truthfully, nothing coming back to bite you later on in life from lies told in the past.
Knowing that you've done what you are here to do successfully
Being selfless, helping others.
Living in love and having faith, belief and hope in God who does not control contrary to wider belief.

If God was a form of control then we would not have CHOICE/FREE WILL.

We make our own decisions. This being free.

1. The ability to create and position energy or matter in time and space.

2. The absence of barriers.

3. Lots of space, and ability to use it.

4. The component parts of freedom, as we first gaze upon it, are then: affinity, reality, and communication, which summate into understanding. Once understanding is attained freedom is obtained.
