Hahah....Yes, it is the original mexican "chili".
It is really called "Chile con carne", which means "Ground chile pepper with meat". That's it. With cubed beef, not ground. Eaten with tortillas. (No tomatoes, no onions, no beans, unless you want them refried and on the side)
Somewhere along the line, it evolved into "chili"....a ground beef stew with peppers and onions and beans.
Both are great.

Texans know a lot of stuff, including what makes up chili. Some people in Texas do make chili.
Did you know that Texans were called Yahoos, long before Yahoo! came into existance?

I can't eat chili without kidney beans in it.
The best Texas chili around is made by Carroll Shelby.

Whilst I have no wish to upset our american friends this I can well believe. Did you also know that in a recent U.S. survey over 60% of Americans can't point to America on an atlas. Even the great man himself, George W Bush is on record as saying "Most of our imports come from abroad". Scary.

YES, I'VE HEARD THAT. I HEARD THAT THE BEST CHILI IN A TEXAS CHILI COOK OFF CONTEST WAS MADE BY SOMEONE FROM ILLINOIS. I ALSO HEARD THAT TEXANS DON'T PUT ANY HOT SAUCE IN THEIR CHILI. IT MUST BE REAL BLAND TASTING CHILI.
