Son of the man who is describing the portrait to his son.
The father of the person in portrait = Man's father's son = Man himself (since that man doesn't have any brother and sister)
Therefore the portrait is of the son of the man describing the portrait. But that son can be other one also, need not be same who is there in the art gallery.

because "that mans father " means that the man in the portrait has a father. "my father's son"=the man. So "but that mans father is my father's son" means that portrait man's father is the man's(who is talking to the child) father's son=the man himself. So it is obvious that the man's son is in the portrait

It is the Dad because he has no siblings and it says it is his father's son so without any brothers it only leaves the father of the child he is showing his son
