Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Michael the Archangel shouldn't be prayed to; he is a created being, not God. There are numerous examples in the OT of Michael rejecting praise. Instead, put your faith in God, and God alone, to help your family member. Pray to the Father in the name of the Son, and trust Him with all your might. He will answer, but will disregard prayers aimed at angels. Paul writes at Colossians 2:18a: "Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels."
