Do you get pains in your chest? if you do, do they come & go? I just recently got pains on the left side of my chest, & it's more painful when I cough or put pressure on it. -Is that normal for a smoker? (I don't plan to quit, I'm hooked.)

Would suggest doctor/x-ray. Smoked 40 years/2 pks pre day, now. No it is not normal. That does't sound good. Good luck

I am a very heavy smoker. 2-3 packs of non filter Pall Mall for
the past 40 years. I do not have pain in my chest. Weezing when sleep and difficult to breath. Not much strength put no pain.
I stopped for 1 month a year ago. It was easier than I thought. Just stop.
I started again but will stop soon.
Maybe some pinched nerve or some other problem you have. Only a doc could tell.

Well I used to smoke 3-4 packets a day and then suddenly one day I got tired of smoking and I gave a rest for about a month. it was a bit difficult in the first two weeks but after that the desire to smoke died but then I started smoking again and I noticed that one packet a day was enough for me, slowly and gradually I decreased and now I'm down to smoking half a packet a day which I find quite good and I do give occasional breaks and everything is fine with me. I thought about your problem and my advice for you is reduce it cause the signs you are experiencing is not good at all. Reduce and try to consult a doctor soon as possible.

Well, I broke a rib last year from smoker's cough. And I have had pains come and go in my chest area for years.

If you did want to quit there's a way out though

Having the medical experience I have, I'm ashamed of the smoking I did but, I put it off. When I went out to drag on a butt I had to squeeze in, the surgeons were there, the cardiologists were there, half the nurses on the staff were there. At one time the hospital had to put up a notice. On one night round no one could be found, they, 24 of them, were out puffing, on ciggies. So, you know, when I had a heart attack and the surgeon was one of the smokers he said they all took pledges to stop, so did I. That was five years ago.
I have asthma, emphysema and bouts of Bronchitis that I have to use a nebulizer for. I look back and wished I haden't but, it's to late for me, for you, quit now, maybe it'll help.

I smoke a 20 pack a day and have for 18 years. I have never experienced chest pains, but I have had bouts of broncitis. You may want to see your doctor.
