scratching can be caused by many things, if it did not start until the new shampoo discontinue use Now it is allergic. If it was scratching before it could be food allergies. corn in the food can cause allergies. Give the dog another bath but just in warm water to get all the left over residue from the shampoo off. you can use a weak white vinegar and water solution to do this also, do not get in the eyes.

bacon grease??? good lord, dont do that! it could be caused by the dryness in the air because of the season - depending on where you are. could be the shampoo you're using, not rinsing well enough, parasites - many possibilities. I used an oatmeal dog shampoo. that used to make a huge difference. also, something I discovered by accident while making a special diet for one of my dogs that was terminally ill...I added about 1/4 cup of vanilla ensure (boost, etc) to her meals, and because the other dogs insisted on being included in the special dinners I sorta pretended they were getting the same thing by dribbling a little bit of it on their food as well. the surprising result was unbelievabley beautiful coats. within days they shined and felt as soft as mink. some time later I experimented with this again and sure enough - it had the same result. these were large 80 lb dogs so I would recommend if you try this, to do so carefully with very little bits at a time. I'm talking only dribbles on their food. you dont want to throw off their chemical balance by giving them too much of this nutrient enriched supplement made for humans. unfortunaly you cant just buy one can at a time. you have to buy a whole 6 pack - which will last forever. be careful how you store an opened can. I'm not sure how long it lasts and never chanced it beyond a couple of days at a time. I had 4 large dogs at the time and still didnt use an entire can before I ended up pitching it - just to stay on the safe side.

Could be fleas...or could be dry skin. Try a shampoo with some aloe in it or flea shampoo and see if that helps.
