300 Pounds is a _very_ tight budget! I don't know the High Wycombe area at all re where to look , but in your position I'd search for an automatic Mini that had been owned by an elderly lady who bought it new and only uses it for the occasional trip to the shops and to visit her nearby family.
Such Minis do exist - though they're hard to find. An elderly aunt of mine had precisely that spec vehicle and it lasted her for 16 plus years until she gave up driving. Advantages: - relatively cheap to service, low insurance, economical, unlikely to be stolen. Good luck anyway.
