Judaism and Islam do differ in the sense that there is a Jewish culture and Islam doesn't have a culture. I'm a British Muslim and therefore the cultural aspects that I adhere to are for the most part British ones, with a bit of Pakistani culture thrown in as well. So, I guess your friend is right, but the same rules do not apply to Muslims.

First off being Jewish is not a race. This means your friend is secular Jewish...he is not religous, but keeps Jewish tradition.

Hey I'm Jewish and I enjoy pork and shelfish from time to time.

Yes there are muslims who enjoy their cultury but they do eat pork or drink or even go dancing...imagine that.

Who said if your Muslim or Jewish you had to be religous 24/7.

Like every Christian goes to chruch on Sunday.

Your BF is right in what he says. Jewish is not a religion , but a race. You can preach Judaism but actually being Jewish is all down to birth right and bloodline passed down from the mother. Having lived there you realise that the majority of the country is not actually religious but all are Jewish! As far as your question goes i cant think of any other group of people who have this strong proud bloodline that still flows and exists today. Being a muslim is not something you are born into like being Jewish. Once born a Jew you will always be one regardless of what religion you choose.

at first i assumed that this replaced into an exceedingly unusual question, yet its interesting and have been given me to thinking. i think of that the respond is not any, partly because of the fact i think of judaism has 2 sides, possibly in comparison to another faith. if is a faith yet in addition in a manner a history.. its not undemanding to place a label to it precisely, yet even though if day after today i converted to christianity that different part or "history/history" factor might nonetheless be there, even though if i wanted it to be or not. i then asked myself why... and the only issues i will think of of is that for the time of jewish holiday trips, its not in undemanding terms an issue of training the non secular rituals, yet there consistently is a definite history lesson in touch besides, and this will become ingrained over centuries and centuries. the different important ingredient is that throughout the time of history even though if a jew converted to chrisianity or to islam they have been nonetheless labelled as a jew via christians and muslims. so it style of feels that no matter what they did they might under no circumstances substitute it in any admire.

Alcohol is prohibited in Islam, but non religious Muslims have no problem in having alcohol.

Pork is also prohibited in Islam, but even non religious Muslims do not eat. We find pigs disgusting for human consumption! Exactly like dogs or frogs which are found ok in some eastern cultures.

Yes, we have Muslims who do not adhere to the Quran. They say: if we drink alcohol or eat pork we are not hurting anyone. They know its a sin, but consider it a lesser one than murder or theft.

My girlfriend is Muslim. She has an atheist boyfriend, loves beer and wine, and eats port. There are liberals in each religion.

I know a few Muslims who consider themselves secular, ie not religious. Some of them drink alcohol, but none of them eat pork.

And Allah knows best.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim
