For those who say that Atheists have no morals, how can you explain the fact that I haven't lied in over four years. Not the smallest white lie. It's not easy, but I believe that a lie is not respectful to others.

If any christian doesn't believe me, it just shows the that you guys are so far gone, that you cannot even BELIEVE that such a person like me exists.

I have to say that I'm not joking about not lying. It seems that many atheists don't believe me either. That's OK.

Just in case anyone brings this up:

My belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster is parody. A valid form of logic, without any intention to deceive.

The purpose of this question was to show those who claimed that just because a person is atheist, he has no moral code.

However, in the course of the answers, I've been rather hurt by all the skepticism.

I don't believe you because if you never lied, you would be perfect. And no human being, apart from the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who became human to save us all from sin, is perfect.

I do, however, believe athiests have morals.

Even I have problems with your arguement and I am an atheist.

First, saying that you "never lie" doesn't mean a whole lot. If you were a liar, it would be nothing for you to say that "you never lie".

Also, you are just trying to trap Christians by indicating that if they don't believe you, then there is something wrong with them.

It is not a bad thing to have problems believing that someone has NEVER told a lie. You, yourself, said that it was not easy. So how could not believing you show that someone has "gone too far". It may just mean that they are a little skeptical of someone who is making an outrageous claim in order to undercut someone else's argument (that atheists have no morals) then try to browbeat anyone who does not believe the claim (by saying that their beliefs have"gone too far")

Oh my, great question. A person can be a moral person, decent person and not be a Christian, because all you have that is good in you, STILL came from God, but YOU dont know it yet. BUt, you cant be someone that doesnt lie. Because you deny the believe in God, and that is a lie. Tho it is one you dont know yet, and will be forgive if you ask God to forgive you . I hve known a few really wonderful ppl in my life that were athiests, and didnt lie at all. other than denouncing God. But, I am old enough to have seen most begin to question this athiestic belief, when they see certain things heppen that hav eno explantion, outside of GOD. I know of one that denies all spiritual things, until she saw a picture of an angel, behind her mom on a motorcyle Her mom was killed only moments after that pic was taken, by a young kid on a cell phone, and that angel was clearly thre. Why? to take her home, knowing what was coming. That picture changed her life. God will do all He can to show us, but its up to us to either believe or continue to reject Him. I pray one day you will see God as real tooo and ask for forgivenss and remember, He is eager to forgive, cuz He loves us all THAT much.
and you are correct, lying is disrespectful to others as well as to yourself and God. YOu say not lying is hard, NOT if you are Christian. Its easy, because you have the spirit of God living within you. Try it, you will like it. Many Christians will deny that a moral person can exist. without God. BUt being moral doesnt save you. Only by accepting Jesus can you be saved. BEing moral is better than nothing tho. But, learn to ask more of yourself. when Judgement day comes, be ready my friend, just be ready. for that I pray.

I have never said atheist have no morals, I don't know you. I am glad that you have not commited this one sin. I believe atheist can have morals, of course sense most morals come from religion I guess you guy's don't have a lot of original ideas.

Morals are not the problem, hope is what you don't have.

I will pray that you come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior so that you can have hope and real understanding. Without Jesus you don't get the Spirit of Truth (Holy Spirit) and without the Spirit of Truth you can't know reality.

God Bless.

I believe that there is such a thing as a moral atheist. I don't see why not.
My husband was atheist until he met me. Now he's agnostic, and I'm Christian. He has morals, although some are questionable.
I have no right to judge you, or anyone else.

Being a Christian isn't about being perfect, it's about striving to attain perfection. I would never call you a liar. I would give you the benefit of the doubt. I know many atheists who are good, honest people. They are more moral than many self proclaimed Christians. Why care so much about what other people think? It's your belief in you that matters.

Not lying is hard but not impossible, so i kinda believe you but why are you also saying Atheist, no point on saying that, are you trying to say atheist dont lie that God does not exist, respect my religion and we will respect you, see what this world has gone to no respect for each other and you atheists, what will you do when you proved there is no God, i mean whats the point, if we want to believe then we believe, coz i think you atheist dont have something to do, its not your fault if we believed in God, you are not helping.

I'd be more worried about defending your position.

An atheist (or anyone else for that matter) can not prove a universal negative. It is therefore a logical fallacy

Main Entry: fal·la·cy
Pronunciation: 'fa-l&-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
Etymology: Latin fallacia, from fallac-, fallax deceitful, from fallere to deceive
1 a obsolete : GUILE, TRICKERY b : deceptive appearance : DECEPTION
2 a : a false or mistaken idea b : erroneous character : ERRONEOUSNESS
3 : an often plausible argument using false or invalid inference

You made another error as well. A person is saved because of what Jesus did - Dying on the cross --not any 'good' thing we did.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by works, lest anyone should boast. -Eph 2:8,9

I also do not believe that you haven't lied in four years.

Maybe more importantly, I think you're confused about the religious stance on lying. For most religious believers, dishonesty is not considered immoral. Lying is fairly central to religious belief - it'd be impossible for religious belief to persist from generation to generation if the believers were to refrain from lying.

If you never lie, then theoretically you should be in a hospital ward somewhere. There are some instances where one would get their lights punched out if they didn't lie.

For instance, say a female were to ask her boyfriend "Does this outfit make me look fat?" That can sometimes be a very dangerous question to be truthful about.

If you responded 'Yes', then you're likely going to get decked.

Now - if you were even MORE truthful, and said "No - it's not the outfit that makes you look fat - it's the fat that makes you look fat.", then you'd probably end up in traction.

I think that question is a lie because A-even the most honest people have to lie sometimes, and B- not all christians have said atheists have no morals. But as a christian (and go ahead and bring on the bad ratings....I dont care) If you preach that there is no God, I'd have to say that youre lying then.

And looking at the other answers its quite plain to see that its not just us "radical christians" who think you're lying. So religion really has nothing to do with it. Atheists lie, christians lie, muslims, jews, hindus lie. Everybody lies once in a while, no matter what your religion is.
