They can add them to the claim, yes. They don't need your permission to update their claim file. If you doubt this person is affiliated with the claim let them know and why you feel that way or what proof you have.

If you had someone in the car as a passenger, they could and probably should add that person to the claim to make them whole if they were injured in any way. Although it would be nice of them to notify you of what they are doing and why, it certainly isn't required of them. They might also add the legal owner if any since if the vehicle is financed the legal owner would have a vested interest in what has happened.

Im assuming you mean added someone like the vehicle owner, the driver, or a passenger to the claim? Of course they can do that- why wouldnt you want them to?

A claim is simply a record of the accident and who was involved. Your insurance company has to contact all individuals involved to rule out injury.

Now, if the other company gave false information im sure your insurance company is willing to listen to you to correct it.

And what exactly does this have to do with the insurance company being "corrupt"- uneducated people.

The insurance company will collect a police report, and take statements from their insured, and the other person ( or persons) involved. If you had anyone with you, they should also take a statement from them. AS for adding people to a claim...No ...not if they weren't involved as passangers, drivers, or injured in connection with the actual accident. They should be contacted if you see someone is claiming injury, or damage that is not true.
